A Masdar, empresa de energias renováveis dos Emirados Árabes Unidos, vai desenvolver um projecto para a construção de um parque solar de 150 MW de energia eléctrica no Sul de Angola, mais concretamente no Município de Quipungo na província da Huíla .
O acordo de concessão, com a empresa estratégica dos Emirados Árabes Unidos, foi assinado hoje, 2 de Dezembro, à margem da Conferência das Partes sobre Alterações Climáticas - COP28- a decorrer na Expo City Dubai entre Sua Excelência João Baptista Borges, Ministro da Energia e Águas de Angola e o CEO da Masdar, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi.
O projecto criará até 600 empregos directos e fornecerá energia eléctrica limpa para 90.000 residências na região, que tem desafios significativos no fornecimento de electricidade.
O Acordo assinado na COP28 demonstra o compromisso do Governo Angolano com uma transição energética justa, crescimento económico e redução das emissões de carbono em África e em todo o Mundo. Este projecto apoiará significativamente o objectivo de Angola de aumentar a sua taxa de electrificação nacional para mais de 50% até 2027. “Este é um contrato que se insere no âmbito do acordo que assinamos anteriormente, no qual assinamos também um outro para o desenvolvimento dos Projectos e agora estamos assinar um contrato de concessão para a construção de um parque solar de 150 MW no Sul de Angola mais precisamente no Município do Quipungo", disse o Ministro João Baptista Borges à imprensa.
Para o titular da pasta de Energia e Águas, o projecto é um investimento privado e terá uma capacidade solar que vai permitir atender não só a região onde ele se insere, neste caso a Província da Huíla, como também vai permitir escoar capacidade para o Namibe. “Nesta região Sul do País há uma escassez significativa de oferta de energia, é onde ainda utilizamos a energia térmica, portanto vai ser também a substituição de energia térmica para a energia limpa”, disse Sua Excelência o Ministro da Energia e Águas, João Baptista Borges.
O Ministro Borges esclareceu que a Masdar vai fornecer a energia à rede pública e aos consumidores privados e "o fornecimento vai ser assegurado pela rede pública e regido por um contrato de aquisição de energia, que será assinado proximamente entre a Rede Nacional de Transporte (RNT) e o Operador do Parque. O contrato ora assinado é para concessão de 25 à 30 anos que permite que durante este tempo o parque funcione e seja operado de forma que o investidor tenha direito sobre a terra onde vai ocupar com a montagem do Parque.
Na abertura da COP28, Sua Excelência o Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Ministro da Indústria e Tecnologia Avançada dos EAU, Presidente da Masdar e Presidente designado da COP28, disse que África tem tudo o que é preciso para se tornar a potência mundial de energia renovável".
