A Directora Nacional de Águas, Elsa Ramos, em conjunto com uma equipa técnica da Direcção Nacional de Águas (DNA) do Ministério da Energia e Águas, constatou no dia 18 do corrente mês de Maio, o estado de implementação das obras de expansão do sistema de abastecimento de água, sistema de recolha e tratamento de águas residuais e o laboratório de âmbito provincial na cidade do Sumbe, Província do Cuanza Sul.
A agenda de trabalhos nesta localidade, teve o seu início no Laboratório de Controlo de Qualidade da Água e Efluentes, cujos trabalhos de construção civil terminaram no mês de Março e actualmente decorrem os trabalhos de fornecimento e instalação dos equipamentos.
Seguiu-se a visita à Estação de Tratamento de Águas Residuais (ETAR), onde se constataram os avanços dos trabalhos, que actualmente têm uma percentagem de execução de 31%.
No âmbito deste contrato, foram entregues à Empresa Pública de Águas e Saneamento do Cuanza Sul, três secções da rede de abastecimento de água, num total de 3.128 ligações e 58 chafarizes, permitindo levar o precioso líquido a mais cerca de 40 mil pessoas.
No decorrer do presente ano, serão concluídas as componentes de abastecimento de àgua e os trabalhos de expansão do sistema elevatório para a zona norte da cidade.
No segundo dia de trabalho nesta província do Cuanza Sul, a DNA acompanhou as acções de âmbito social.
Relativamente ao contrato celebrado com ONG DW, que visa a "mobilização social de água e saneamento na cidade do Sumbe", foi realizada uma formação para a produção artesanal de sabão a trinta munícipes do Sumbe. Os formandos levaram consigo um kit completo para produzir cinco barras de sabão em suas casas. O grande objectivo, com esta iniciativa, é o de disseminar junto das comunidades a simplicidade do processo de produção de sabão, no sentido de assegurar que todas as famílias usem este produto para a lavagem das mãos, visando igualmente potenciar o negócio local de produção artesanal de sabão, proporcionando uma oportunidade de negócio e concretização de projectos pessoais a mulheres e homens deste município.
Houve igualmente tempo para uma acção social, no bairro das Salinas, na Igreja que apoia a comunidade, com a entrega de 260 bonecas às crianças do bairro, para a felicidade das mesmas, bonecas estas feitas pelos alunos e comunidade escolar da Escola Guilherme Stephens, da Marinha Grande de Portugal, no âmbito do Projeto "Reutilizar para Criar. Criar para Doar".
A doação das bonecas foi feita pela Directora Nacional de Águas, Elsa Ramos e pela professora Sílvia Alves, que mobilizou a comunidade escolar para esta actividade, produzindo as bonecas a partir de material reutilizado, em parceria com a ONG "Mães do Mundo". Por fim, foi realizada, de igual modo, uma acção de sensibilização, pela DW, acerca da importância da lavagem das mãos.
